The Minister of Communications, Barr Adebayo Shittu has commended the Pan-African Students for honouring him with Award and a Certificate of Meritorious service as a role model of the younger generations, stating that the initiative would go a long way in the African Unity.
He stated this in his office during a courtesy visit by the executives of the Pan-African Congress led by the International President Monami Coulibally Ahmed of Cote d’Ivoire. Shittu also charged the youths from various African Universities to live to their responsibilities because the future belongs to them.
The Minister used the medium to thank President, Muhammadu Buhari for given him the opportunity to serve, disclosing that the Nigerian Youth should have hope in the face of economic reality of the day.
Delivering his keynote address, the Secretary General of the Congress, John Nteka Umoh said the choice of the Minister was informed by his antecedents, relentless commitment towards building a better Nigerian and African Society, coupled with diligent service to nation building with transparency and accountability as his watch word.
He disclosed to the Minister some of the problems and prospects of the African Continent; such as poor leadership, terrorism and lack of educational consciousness, prevalent issues confronting the African Continent, and they have decided to organize a Seminar and sensitization program tagged”FROM ARMS STRUGGLE TO PEN STRUGGLE” to re-psyche the youths from violent to a non-violent approach to the struggle and campaign against religious extremism.
