The First Lady of Nigeria Sen. Oluremi Tinubu CON received members of the Super Falcons in her office on Monday, August 14, 2023. In her address, First Lady welcomes the team with enthusiasm, joy, and admiration for a commendable outing at the FIFA Women’s world cup in Australia.

Noting that although the final results did not favour Nigeria she reminded the team that, “victory is not solely determined by the score on the field but the unbreakable spirit and unity that you demonstrated are true markers of success, the entire world took notice of the unwavering strength and zeal that defines Nigeria through the dexterity you displayed on the soccer field that day”. She celebrated and thanked the entire team for being role models for the younger generation who now see their aspirations mirrored in them, making particular reference to the goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for her remarkable leadership skills on the field.

Responding, an elated President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau thanked the First Lady for her continued support and encouragement to the team. He assured the First Lady that all payments would be made to the team as soon as it is received from FIFA. He also promised that the Nigeria Football Federation will continue to strive to achieve the best results and representation of the country.

The captain of the team, Onome Ebi, Was very thankful for the warm reception by the First Lady, noting that the team felt honoured and encouraged to have been received by her and recognized by the country at large.

In attendance at the reception were the wife of Vice President Hajia Nana Shettima and the wife of the Senate President Mrs Ekaette Akpabio.
