Women Affairs Ministry warns against Child Molestation

The Ministry of Women Affairs has warned perpetrators of child abuse in the country to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, gave the warning today during a New Year party for children held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

She stated that the event was aimed at fostering, peace, unity and stability among Nigerian Youth.

Barrister Kennedy-Ohanenye explained that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration understands the role of peace and stability in the upbringing of children and would therefore leave no stone unturned in bringing perpetrators to book.

So far, she said, the Ministry has commenced legal actions against perpetrators to serve as a deterrent to those who indulge in such nefarious acts.

In a goodwill message, the House Committee Chairman on Women Affairs, Honourable Kafilat Ogbara advised Nigerian Children to shun all forms of negative tendencies capable of affecting their lives and also truncating God’s purposes for them.

She called on the children to take advantage of the opportunities being created by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration for the development of the Nigerian Child through skill acquisition such as ICT, tailoring, fashion designing, among others.

In a welcome address, the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Francis Adebisi expressed the Ministry’s dedication to prioritizing child protection in the country.

He commended the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration for creating an enabling environment for the development of the Nigerian Child.
