WORLD CIVIL DEFENCE DAY 2025: Abia NSCDC Reaffirms It's Commitment to Safeguarding lives

FIC Report (Abia State) – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Abia State Command joined the global community in celebrating World Civil Defence Day, observed annually on March 1st with the theme for the 2025 celebration, “Civil Defence, Guarantee of Security for the Population,” which underscored the crucial role of the NSCDC in ensuring the safety and security of communities.

In his address during the commemoration event in Abia state Command, the State Commandant, Akinsola Aderemi on behalf of the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to its mandate of safeguarding lives, protecting critical national assets and infrastructures, and as well promoting community-based initiatives that foster a safer environment for all.

He expressed gratitude to the Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Chioma otti for all his support while promising that they will continue to do their duty without hesitation.

Also speaking in the event as a guest of honour, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander MacDonald Uba (Rtd) commended the officers and men of the Command for their exemplary service and dedication, which he said have significantly contributed to security efforts in the state.

As part of the occasion, he formally presented protective kits on behalf of the Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, to the State Commandant for distribution to personnel.

The commemoration featured a cross-town walk and a formal event held at the Command’s headquarters.

The International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) is an intergovernmental body, with Nigeria represented by the NSCDC as a member state.
