2012 August 12: A senior officer said troops killed twenty (20) suspected Boko Haram Islamists in the city of Maiduguri.  Military commander, Victor Ebhaleme said one soldier was killed and two others were injured in the raid.

2013 August 12: Nigeria became the first African country to sign the UN Arms Trade Treaty marking “resolute and unyielding” efforts to deny arms to terrorists, pirates and bandits.
