Abuja, Nigeria – October 30, 2024 – In a formal ceremony in Abuja, Honourable Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa, Esq. officially assumed leadership of the newly restructured Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, following the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the existing Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy. The restructured ministry remains under the continued leadership of Honourable Minister Musawa. Key figures in attendance included Permanent Secretary Ibiene Robert, OON; NTDA Director General Fohorunsho Coker; Mr. Philip Maga, DOODG of NIHOTOUR; Ministry Directors, and staff. The event celebrated Outgoing Minister Lola Ade-John’s contributions to Nigeria’s tourism and cultural sectors.
In her farewell remarks, Ade-John expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry’s team and partner agencies, emphasizing her appreciation for the unwavering support she received during her tenure. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting Honourable Minister Musawa and the Ministry’s mission to advance Nigeria’s tourism industry.
Minister Musawa, describing Ade-John as both a friend and sister, pledged to honor and continue her predecessor’s impactful initiatives. She affirmed that Ade-John’s foundational contributions would be recognized, ensuring the Presidency, Nigeria, and the world acknowledge the groundwork established under Ade-John’s leadership. In alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Minister Musawa also announced plans to integrate tourism into the Nigeria Everywhere Shorts series, a seven-part celebration of Nigerian identity and culture.
Minister Musawa concluded by sharing her vision for a collaborative ministry that will elevate Nigeria’s arts, culture, and tourism on the global stage. She invited both national and international audiences to experience the richness of Nigeria’s tourism, fostering a renewed aspiration to explore the nation’s cultural heritage.
