……platform targets investment growth, over three million jobs and stronger economic development by 2030.

Nigeria has taken a significant step towards unlocking the economic potentials of its tourism and creative industries with the official launch of the Destination 2030 (D30) data platform, a national data platform designed to strengthen investment intelligence, improve sectoral planning and accelerate economic growth.

The Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, during the official unveiling of the D30 data platform today in Abuja, said that the launching of the D30 platform aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Ministry’s ambition to creating over three million jobs and generating $100 billion to Nigeria’s GDP by 2030, adding that, with data, we can understand what the sectors is contributing to the economic activities that adds value to the revenue generation for the country.

She explained that “the Data platform is the engine that will drive us to Destination 2030, adding that, without reliable data, D30 is just a slogan, but with a robust data platform, it becomes a measurable investable and achievable reality”.

She described D30 as more than a technology platform, calling it a strategic instrument for changing how Nigeria identifies, measures and harnesses the economic value of its cultural heritage, creative talent and tourism assets.

She noted that despite Nigeria’s global recognition in music, film, fashion, visual arts and cultural heritage, limited access to reliable and comprehensive data has constrained the ability to translate these strengths into measurable economic prosperity.

While highlighting the importance of credible data in guiding investment and national development she said “Knowing that opportunities exist is not the same as knowing where they are, how large they are, what constraints they face, and what investments are required to unlock their full value”, that is why we are through data, building a smart, inclusive and competitive tourism and creative future for Nigeria, she added.

According to the Minister, D30 is designed to bring together sectoral data, research, mapping and economic intelligence to help government institutions plan effectively, investors identify viable opportunities, businesses make informed decisions and entrepreneurs discover new markets.

It will also help reveal infrastructure gaps and strengthen the relationship between tourism and the creative economy.

The Minister called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies, state governments, sector players, industry associations, research institutions and private-sector organisations to support the platform as a shared national resource.

She commended Cavista, the technology development partner, and the Ministry’s project team for bringing the initiative to fruition, stressing that, its success would be measured by investments attracted, enterprises strengthened and jobs created.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Abdulkarim Ozi Ibrahim, described the unveiling platform as an important milestone in the Ministry’s efforts to transform Nigeria’s cultural and tourism assets into sustainable economic opportunities.

Ibrahim reiterated that the unveiling will also help the Ministry to unlock the immense economic potential of the sectors.

He emphasised that strong partnerships across government and the private sector would be essential to ensuring credible information, evidence-based policymaking and effective investment planning.

The Permanent Secretary mentioned that, the unveiling of the data platform marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s journey towards Destination 2030 and positions Nigeria as a leader in digital tourism and creative transformation.

The data platform will help in tracking tourism and creative real-time, guide evidence-based policy, attract sustainable investment and create jobs, he added.

He calls on all stakeholders, state governments, private partners and the media to partner in populating and utilizing the platform for the collective growth of the sectors.

Earlier, in his remarks, the representative of Cavista Holdings, Mr. Olumide Olayomi, Executive Director/Vice President, Government and External Affairs, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s tourism and creative economy through technology and private-sector investment.

He explained that D30 would make information on tourism infrastructure, attractions, creative industries and sectoral opportunities more accessible, help stakeholders make better decisions and direct investments where they can deliver meaningful results.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Mr. Imran Garba Duba, Special Adviser to the President on Partnerships and Innovation, was optimistic that the unveiling of the data platform for D30 will open economic ways for Nigeria. In his words it is “one step for the Ministry but a step ahead for Nigeria”.

The highlight of the event was the demonstration of the work-through by the D30 Project team/Cavista Technical Team.
