Marking the grand finale of the 2026 Customer Service Week celebrations, the Acting National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs. Helen Lawal, has commended the management and staff of the SERVICOM Office, Presidency, for their exceptional dedication, proactiveness, and unwavering commitment to public service excellence.
Addressing officers during the special commemoration on 13th October 2026, at the SERVICOM Headquarters in Abuja, Mrs. Lawal celebrated the vital workforce behind critical institutional tasks, ranging from service charter evaluations and training facilitations to prompt complaint resolutions and public awareness. She emphasised that “ensuring every citizen is met with courtesy, speed, and respect remains the core moral and professional calling of the institution.”
Reflecting on the global significance of the annual event, the Acting National Coordinator noted that the week offered a vital opportunity to reinforce public service delivery standards across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). She stressed that “rising expectations from citizens should serve as a source of inspiration rather than discouragement, proving that the public still believes in the potential for transformative governance and citizen-focused administration.”

To guide the Office and public institutions through the upcoming operational season, Mrs. Lawal outlined four strategic priorities for staff: “putting citizens at the center by looking past the paperwork to recognize the human story behind every official file, strictly honoring service commitments and published standards rather than letting them remain passive documents, embracing modern technology to enhance workflow efficiency and bridge communication gaps, and fostering mutual support to build a well-equipped, motivated, and resilient workforce.” She also specifically acknowledged the relentless efforts of Desk Officers and Heads of Units who act as frontline SERVICOM ambassadors across diverse public sector institutions.
Expanding these ideals in a related development during her nationwide engagements for the week, Mrs. Lawal also celebrated “The Extra Mile” with the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), commending the agency’s management and staff for embedding a culture of intentional, high-quality service delivery across all operational touchpoints.

Aligned with PTDF’s core mandate of building robust human capital and institutional capabilities in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, Mrs. Lawal noted that the agency’s efforts directly translate internal dedication into exceptional experiences for scholars, researchers, partner institutions, and industry stakeholders. She highlighted that “going the extra mile in the energy and educational sectors extended far beyond standard administrative tasks to manifest visibly as seamless scholarship processing, transparent communication, prompt stakeholder responsiveness, and rigorous institutional support.”
Concluding her remarks across both institutions, Mrs. Lawal urged every public servant to carry the firm conviction that every Nigerian deserves prompt, professional, and polite service. She encouraged personnel to let excellence become an everyday habit, reminding them that “ordinary people executing small duties with extraordinary consistency are the ultimate building blocks of renewed public confidence in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
