FIC Report (Kano State) – In a call for greater cooperation, Abdullahi Musa, the Head of Service in Kano State, encouraged Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa (JMA), a prominent women’s organization in Northern Nigeria, to partner closely with the Kano State Government (KNSG) to advance women’s empowerment and tackle the pervasive issue of moral decadence. The appeal was made during a courtesy visit by JMA’s executive members to introduce their newly elected leaders.
Musa highlighted the crucial role of collective efforts in uplifting women’s status and securing their future. He urged JMA to continue their impactful work and engage actively with government programs focused on improving women’s welfare across the region. He also underscored the importance of addressing societal concerns about moral decay, which he noted has become a widespread issue.
Commending the Kano State Government for its financial aid to women across the state’s 44 local governments, Musa acknowledged the positive steps taken to alleviate socio-economic hardships for women, who are often among the most vulnerable groups. He appealed to JMA to help monitor the allocation of state funds provided for women’s small-scale businesses, ensuring the resources are used efficiently. Musa emphasized that by offering guidance on fund management, JMA could amplify the impact of these programs and improve women’s livelihoods.
Kubura Ibrahim Dankani, the JMA chairperson, introduced the organization’s new executive members and outlined JMA’s initiatives, including educating women on issues such as drug abuse, civic engagement, and preventing social vices. She further requested ongoing support from the Head of Service to help JMA achieve its mission and make a lasting impact on women’s lives in Kano.
