FIC Report (Osun State) – A day of celebration came for residents of Otan-Ayegbaju and Iresi in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun Central as Governor Ademola Adeleke broke a 44-year jinx of abandonment of infrastructure in both communities.
The roads according to residents, had been neglected by successive governments, leaving them in a deplorable state thereby making it difficult for motorists to ply the roads continually.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, while commissioning the road linking Ota-Ayegbaju and Iresi towns, stated that the event marked a continuation of his midterm anniversary, describing the project as historic because the road had been in disrepair since the Second Republic.
“For the past 44 years, this road has remained unattended to. I thank God that today our administration has broken the jinx of four decades. We have delivered on our promise to ensure productive connectivity among our people. I congratulate the people of Iresi and Ota-Ayegbaju on this significant milestone”, he said.
“We are opening a total of 7.5 kilometres of road which includes three kilometres of Iresi township roads and the 4.5-kilometre Otan-Ayegbaju-Iresi road,” Adeleke stated.
Residents of the two towns were seen jubilating as the governor officially commissioned the road.
As many of the residents jubilate, a retired Principal, Mr Popoola expressed gratitude to the governor for accomplishing what none of his predecessors had achieved in the last 44 years. He noted that the new road would enable peasant farmers to transport their produce to the market with ease.
“This is historic for us here in Otan-Ayegbaju. We are happy to now have a good access road that links us to other communities. We thank Mr Governor for this great gesture,” he buttressed.
