FIC REPORT (RIVERS STATE) – The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, today presided over the decoration of 119 newly promoted senior police officers at the Police Officers’ Mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt. The ceremony saw Forty Superintendents promoted to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), Twenty-One Deputy Superintendents elevated to Superintendents of Police (SPs), and Fifty-Eight Assistant Superintendents elevated to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
CP Adepoju, joined by the Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of SCID, Operations, and Administration, decorated the officers in a ceremony that was attended by dignitaries, including members of the press and other guests. The Commissioner expressed his gratitude to God for the success of the event and acknowledged the efforts of the officers being honored.
In his address, CP Adepoju commended the newly promoted officers for their hard work and dedication to duty. He also extended his appreciation to the Police Service Commission for their prompt approval of the promotions, as well as to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for the opportunity to conduct the decoration.
“Today’s promotion is a recognition of your dedication and hard work. But with promotion comes greater responsibility,” CP Adepoju remarked. He urged the officers to remain above reproach, emphasizing the need for professional conduct and a commitment to upholding the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
CSP Orok Edet, who spoke on behalf of the newly promoted officers, expressed gratitude for the recognition and the trust bestowed upon them. He thanked the IGP and the Police Service Commission for their role in ensuring the promotions were made possible, and assured the CP and the public that they would continue to uphold the values and integrity of the Police Force in their new roles.
The event also witnessed a strong media presence, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the continued efforts of the Rivers State Police Command to uphold law and order.
