The Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) has granted Water Use Licence to Olam Nigeria Ltd to ensure efficient utilization of water.
The representative of the Acting Executive Director, NIWRMC, Engineer Shazali Uba Ajingi while presenting the Water Use Licence to the beneficiary at his office in Abuja urged that the Licence be used for the purposes for which it was granted as set out in the Terms and Conditions of the Licence.
He said the Company will be supervised by the Commission and the Licence shall be revalidated after every two years to ensure compliance.
Engineer Ajingi noted that the Commission grants Licences to make sure water is being allocated to every user for fairness and equitable distribution.
He added that the issuance of Licences are mostly done based on catchment availability to ensure each user gets its own share without having conflict and to guarantee sustainability.
The Head of Agronomy and Government Relations, Olam Nigeria Ltd, Dr. Umaru Ismaila promised that the Licence will be used for the purpose it was granted by the Commission.
