FIC Report (Edo State) – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his Administration’s dedication to transforming the State’s Economy by focusing on Large-Scale Agriculture. During an inspection tour of the State-Owned Udomi Farm in Edo Central, the governor emphasized the government’s commitment to practical, results-oriented governance that benefits local communities.
Addressing Officials and Farmers at the Farm, Governor Okpebholo described the facility as a tangible symbol of his administration’s efforts to turn policies into visible outcomes. “This is a practical farm that demonstrates our resolve to deliver real results,” he stated. “We do not just talk; we act to make a difference for our people.”
The Governor praised the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for the farm’s progress, highlighting its role in driving food security, job creation, and economic diversification through large-scale farming initiatives. He stressed that projects like Udomi Farm are proof of the government’s shift from promises to measurable accomplishments, with a focus on empowering farmers and fostering agro-industrial growth across Edo.
During the visit, Ogunbo Osarobo David, Director of Agricultural Services, reported that Maize at the Farm has reached harvesting stage, with yields averaging six to seven tons per hectare on 400 hectares. The farm’s produce is primarily off-taken by Prime Flour Mill in Ewu.
Earlier in the day, Governor Okpebholo inspected ongoing construction work at the Benin Flyover and Ramat Park in Benin City, assessing progress before visiting the farm. The visits underscore the Administration’s broader development Agenda aimed at boosting Agricultural and Infrastructure.
