FIC Report (Kogi State) – Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu says as part of his effort to prioritizing security and welfare of Citizens, his administration has begun the process of expanding the capacity of armed forces and security agencies in numbers, advanced weaponry and Intelligence capacity.
President Tinubu made this known at the tenth commemorative ceremony of the passing of former Kogi state Governor, Late Prince Abubakar Audu, held at government house in Lokoja, the state capital
The president, represented by the Minister of information and National Orientation, Mr Mohammed Idris described the Late Prince Audu, who was the first democratically elected Governor of kogi state first in 1992 and again as a pioneer in 1999 as a Pathfinder, who carved out a vision for the state and helped lay the foundation for the nation’s ensuring democracy.
President Tinubu who acknowledged and commended the Leadership of Governor Usman Ododo for his efforts to sustain the developmental legacies of Prince Abubakar Audu, urged him to continue on that path as the federal government was ready to partner with him to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
The state Governor, Usman Ododo In a historic step to Immortalize Late Prince Audu, named the stretch from Ganaja Junction to Ganaja Roundabout to the riverbank as the Prince Abubakar Audu Boulevard, with effect from the day of the anniversary.
Governor Ododo while paying tribute to the Late hero whom he said birthed the modern administrative structure of Kogi State, described Prince Audu as not just a political leader, but a big idea , an idea that believed the state could be great, the people could rise, and governance could bring hope to every home.
He reflected that Prince Audu’s tenures were shining examples of what focused leadership could achieve, with the building of over 1,500 housing units for civil servants, establishment of hospitals, construction of township roads, building of the first state University and polytechnic, Government House, and other landmark structures; all a testament to his vision and taste for excellence.
Promising to uphold his legacy, Governor Ododo called on the citizens of the state to renew their faith in the ideals he lived for; unity, service, and progress as well as build bridges of love across the differences, just as he built physical bridges across the communities.
Speaking on behalf of the Audu Family, Minister of steel Development, Prince Shaibu Audu, expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency President Bola for being a long standing progressive, ally and friend of his late father, and all distinguished personalities, for taking out time to celebrate his father whom he said was a man committed to public service, and an uncommon passion for the transformation of the state.
