FIC Report (Ondo State) – Today, Tuesday, 20th January 2026, the Ondo State Government under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa (O’Datiwa) successfully graduated and empowered 200 women under the O’Datiwa Skill-Up-A-Woman Initiative.
The graduation ceremony and presentation of empowerment materials took place at the International Events Centre (The Dome), Akure, marking the successful completion of a six-month intensive vocational training programme aimed at enhancing women’s economic self-reliance and professional capacity.
The initiative, which focuses on skill acquisition and empowerment for women and youth, covered six different vocational trades, including fashion design, catering, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Out of over 500 applicants, 200 participants were rigorously selected and trained in the first batch of the programme.
As part of the empowerment process, each graduate received startup equipment, such as laptops, sewing machines, and other relevant tools, to serve as startup capital and enable them to become self-reliant, productive, and economically empowered.
The event attracted men and women of calibre and was chaired by the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami, who represented Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Other dignitaries in attendance included the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon Omoyofunmi segun Henry the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Seun Osamaye the Deputy Director of Women Affairs, Mr. Amos Igbekun, and several other top government officials and stakeholders.
The joy radiating from the faces of the graduates reflected their deep appreciation for the initiative. Many of them expressed heartfelt gratitude and sent encouraging messages to the Governor, urging him to sustain and expand such impactful empowerment programmes across the state.
The O’Datiwa Skill-Up-A-Woman Initiative stands as a testament to the administration’s commitment to women empowerment, poverty reduction, and sustainable economic development in Ondo State.
