FIC Report (Edo State) – The Edo State Police Command has recorded a significant operational breakthrough following a coordinated midnight raid carried out on March 2, 2026, at about 02:45 hours.

Acting on credible intelligence indicating the presence of suspected kidnappers at Zango and Max Square Properties in Aviele, as well as technical analysis linking ransom negotiation activities to the area, tactical teams from the State Police Headquarters, in collaboration with operatives from the Area Commands in Auchi and Ekpoma, stormed the identified hideouts.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 65 suspected kidnappers and the recovery of several exhibits, including the sum of One Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦1,850,000) reasonably suspected to be ransom proceeds. Also recovered were Nigerian Army uniforms and other military kits, along with additional incriminating items.

No casualties were recorded during the operation. The suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Police Headquarters in Benin City and are currently undergoing discreet investigations to determine their level of involvement in kidnapping activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, Monday Agbonika, fdc, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication. He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling kidnapping networks across the state and called for the continued support and cooperation of members of the public in the fight against crime.
