FIC Report (Imo State) – The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has announced the appointment of Professor I.N.S. Dozie as its 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment follows the conclusion of a rigorous selection process conducted by the University’s 13th Governing Council, chaired by Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado, OFR, CON.
Professor Dozie formally received his letter of appointment from the Council Chairman in the presence of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mrs. Nnenna N. Oti, whose tenure is scheduled to conclude on June 18, 2026.
Until his appointment, Professor Dozie served as the Vice-Chancellor of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), Ideato, Imo State. He brings to the role a wealth of academic and administrative experience, having previously held several key positions at FUTO, including Dean, School of Health Technology; Member, 11th Governing Council; and Director, Linkages and Advancement, among others.
His appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of the University as he prepares to assume office on June 19, 2026, succeeding Professor Oti.
The University community has expressed optimism that his leadership will further advance FUTO’s vision of academic excellence, innovation, and service.
