FIC Report (Oyo State) – President Tinubu has tuned up the efforts by his government to rescue the pupils, students and teachers of the three schools at Ahoro-Esinele and Yewota communities in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, who were abducted from their schools on Friday 15th, May 2026, exactly 17 days ago.
The FIC Ibadan, on Friday 15th, May 2026, had reported the terrorists’ abduction of over 40 pupils, students and some of their teachers from three schools in Oyo State.
The presidents revving up efforts was signaled today with the president sending a high-powered delegation to the scenes of the abduction. The delegation arrived this afternoon in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, enroute to the Oriire, the Headquarters of the local government Council.
According to the preliminary information available to the FIC, Ibadan, the delegation was to further assess the security situation in the area and to reassure the relatives of the victims and the people of the local government area of the government’s determination to rescue all the victims and prevent any further attacks on the area.
The delegation, which was led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Honorable Femi Gbadabiamila, has the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu; the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe; and the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
The visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to securing the safe release of the victims and strengthening security measures in affected communities.
Security agencies have intensified operations in the area, while residents continue to anxiously await positive developments.
The presidential delegation is expected to engage with local authorities, security operatives, and community representatives as part of ongoing efforts to address the crisis and prevent similar incidents in the future.
It has been reported that the governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Saturday May 30th, 2026, had paid a similar visit to the communities, where he held an open-field meeting with the relatives of the abductees and other members of the communities.
It would be recalled the teachers in Oyo State, under the aegis of the Nigerian Union of Teachers(NUT) on Friday 29th May, 2026, staged a protest at the Oyo State government Secretariat to press for a quick rescue of both their colleagues, pupils and students in the captivity of the terrorists.
It has also been reported that the all Nigerian students, under the umbrella of the National Association of the Nigerian Students(NANS) have vowed to, on Monday June 1st, embark on a nationwide protests to demand for an immediate release of their mates, teachers and everyone else in the captivities of bandits and terrorists across the country.
