The Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, has charged Directors of the Ministry and Chief Executive Officers/Director-Generals of agencies under its supervision to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the implementation of innovation-driven programmes that will contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Minister gave the charge during the 2nd Expanded Quarterly Top Management Meeting held in Abuja with Directors and Heads of Agencies to review performance, assess ongoing programmes, and set priorities for the next quarter.
Dr. Udeh emphasized that science, technology, and innovation remain critical drivers of economic growth, industrialization, job creation, and national competitiveness. He urged all departments and agencies to focus on delivering measurable results in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
While commending the Ministry and its agencies for achievements recorded in research, technology development, and innovation, the Minister called for greater synergy, accountability, and strategic planning to improve efficiency and maximize impact. He also stressed the need to promote indigenous technologies, strengthen research and entrepreneurship, and deepen partnerships with the private sector, academia, and development partners.
In his welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, mni, described the meeting as an important platform for reviewing progress, addressing challenges, and developing practical strategies to enhance the Ministry’s performance and national impact.
The meeting featured presentations by Directors and Heads of Agencies on ongoing projects, achievements, challenges, and key priorities. It concluded with a renewed commitment by all participants to work collectively towards strengthening Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem and advancing sustainable national development through science, technology, and innovation.
