FMSDIGA Holds 2nd Quarter Stakeholders Interactive and Citizens Engagement Forum to Strengthen Implementation of Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects

The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs (FMSDIGA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, citizen participation and effective service delivery in the implementation of Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects (ZIPs/CPs) across the country.

During the 2nd Quarter Stakeholders Interactive and Citizens Engagement Forum themed “Strengthening the Effective Implementation of Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects (ZIPs/CPs) in Line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The forum, which commenced at about 12:20 p.m. at the Permanent Secretary’s Conference Room, brought together critical stakeholders from government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, community leaders, the media and project beneficiaries to deliberate on ways of enhancing the implementation and sustainability of Constituency and Zonal Intervention projects nationwide.

Delivering the keynote address, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo, Mfr, represented by PS FMSDIGA, Dr. Onwusoro Maduka Ihemelandu, stated that the engagement reflects the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, citizen participation and effective service delivery in the implementation of ZIPs/CPs across Nigeria.

He noted that the Ministry remains focused on ensuring that the projects align with and contribute meaningfully to the actualization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Minister further disclosed that project verification and monitoring have improved significantly, with verification performance increasing from 28.88 percent in 2023 to 43.13 percent in 2024, reflecting stronger oversight and monitoring mechanisms.

He added that the 2025 verification exercise is currently underway, with encouraging indications of even better performance.

He urged development partners and civil society organizations to continue providing technical support and constructive feedback, while community leaders and project beneficiaries should take ownership of completed projects to ensure their sustainability.

The Minister also called on the media to continue promoting transparency through objective reporting and by highlighting successful government interventions.

Earlier on in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Onwusoro Maduka I., emphasized the importance of fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders following the presentation of the status report on ZIPs/CPs and the launch of the maiden compendium titled “Actualizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Through the Implementation of ZIPs/CPs.”

Dr Onwusoro Maduka, explained that the compendium was designed to sustain stakeholder engagement and deepen citizens’ participation in the implementation process.

Dr. Maduka stressed that the success of stakeholder engagement depends not only on government efforts but also on the active collaboration of implementing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), development partners, civil society organizations, community leaders and citizens.

According to him, collective commitment and sustained engagement are essential for ensuring that Constituency and Zonal Intervention Projects deliver lasting developmental impact across communities.

The event was attended by several distinguished stakeholders, including Distinguished Senator, Anthony Ishaku Yaro of Gombe State, whose presence underscored the importance of legislative support in advancing Constituency and Zonal Intervention Projects.

Participants engaged in productive discussions, questions and answers and exchanged ideas on strategies for improving project implementation, monitoring, accountability and sustainability.

The forum also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to make valuable contributions and recommendations aimed at strengthening the delivery of ZIPs/CPs in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining stakeholder engagement and enhancing collaboration among all relevant actors to ensure the successful implementation of Constituency and Zonal Intervention Projects for the benefit of Nigerians.
