The High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Malaysia, Ambassador Ahmed Olatunji Sulu-Gambari has formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia at the Singgahsana Kecil, Istana Negara (National Palace), Kuala Lumpur, on 14th July 2026. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms. Onyinye Maryjane Nwefuru, First Secretary/Head of Chancery.
In accordance with established diplomatic protocol, the presentation was conducted with full of ceremonial honours, including a General Salute mounted by the Royal Guard, reflecting the importance attached by Malaysia to the accreditation of Heads of Mission. Furthermore, the ceremony witnessed the presentation of Letters of Credence by the Ambassador-Designates and High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of Albania, Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Republic of Mauritius.
During the presentation Ambassador Sulu-Gambari conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim. He also expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to formally present his Letters of Credence and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Malaysia.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim warmly recalled his longstanding acquaintance and cordial interactions with Nigerians, underscoring the enduring friendship and mutual goodwill that exist between the peoples of Nigeria and Malaysia. His Majesty also expressed his interest in undertaking a visit to Nigeria, an indication of his goodwill and confidence in the growing bilateral relationship.
A notable highlight of the audience was the admiration expressed by His Majesty for Ambassador Sulu-Gambari’s distinctive traditional Nigerian attire which provided an opportunity to promote cultural exchange between both countries. Acknowledging the importance of cultural diplomacy as a means of strengthening people-to-people ties, the High Commissioner affirmed to follow-up on the initiatives to translate these discussions into concrete programmes in the near future.
His Majesty congratulated Ambassador Sulu-Gambari on his appointment as High Commissioner of Nigeria to Malaysia and wished him a successful, productive, and fulfilling tour of duty.
