The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has dedicated his 58th birthday to Nigerians in need of care, support and direction, urging friends, associates and well-wishers to mark the occasion by extending kindness to the less privileged.
The NTAC helmsman, who clocks 58 today, August 13, 2026, said the occasion offers him an opportunity to reflect on the blessings of life, express gratitude to God and reaffirm his commitment to giving back to society, particularly to those who may lack the means or opportunities to meet their basic needs.
In a special appeal to those wishing to celebrate him with gifts, Buba Yakub urged them to channel such gestures towards people in need within their communities or to orphanages, where their support could make a meaningful difference.
“Rather than buying a birthday gift for me, I would be most fulfilled if you could find someone around you who is in need and offer that person some care, support or encouragement. You may also choose to visit an orphanage and put a smile on the face of a child,” he said.
The Director-General stressed that birthdays should not merely be occasions for celebration, but also moments for gratitude, reflection and renewed commitment to humanity.
He appealed to Nigerians to make compassion a daily practice, noting that even the smallest act of kindness could restore hope, dignity and confidence to someone going through difficult times.
For Buba Yakub, therefore, his 58th birthday is less about receiving gifts and more about giving hope, sharing love and touching lives.
Born in Kaduna to the royal family of Captain Buba, of Huba origin in Adamawa State, Buba Yakub began his public life at the grassroots, representing his Local Government Area, State Constituency and Adamawa State in various political positions and programmes across different political dispensations.
Following several political, entrepreneurial and humanitarian engagements, he became the National Chairman of the Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), one of the national political parties that featured prominently in the politics of the Obasanjo era.
He subsequently won election to the House of Representatives, where he represented the people of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency for two consecutive terms and served as Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
On August 22, 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed him Director-General/CEO of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps.
In nearly three years at the helm of NTAC, the former lawmaker and real estate entrepreneur has brought his experience in leadership, public service and enterprise to bear on the mandate, operations and programmes of the Agency, with notable engagements and interventions that have continued to attract commendation from stakeholders in Nigeria and the international community.
A man of many parts, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub has made his mark across politics, leadership, philanthropy, real estate and farming. Yet, beyond these accomplishments, he continues to cherish the impact he has made in the lives of people whose paths have crossed his.
As he marks his 58th birthday, the NTAC Director-General calls on Nigerians to embrace the spirit of kindness and generosity, particularly towards the vulnerable and less privileged, as a practical way of building a more caring and compassionate society.
