Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the Nation’s 59th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs Dr. Makut Simon Macham, he described the day as one that remained significant because of the giant strides attained since Nigeria gained independence and became a sovereign Nation.
The Governor said ‘’though the nation continues to face many challenges, we have to remain resolute and join hands to overcome these challenges as we build a virile nation that we all desire’’.
Lalong on behalf of other Northern Governors, congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan and the Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Tanko Mohammed, assuring that they would continue to collaborate and work together in tackling the Nation’s insecurity and developmental challenges.
Governor Lalong used the occasion to assure the people of Plateau State of his determination to build a State that would be prosperous, peaceful and a haven for investment and business.
According to him “in my second and final tenure, we have come up with a development plan that we shall implement religiously in line with our 3 pillar policy thrust of Peace, Security and good governance, physical infrastructural development and sustainable economic rebirth because Plateau State is ours to build for the sake of generations to come”.
He asked the people of the state to sustain the peace that had been restored, while ensuring that they took advantage of government initiatives to create wealth and be productive.
