FIC Report (Adamawa State) – Adamawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigeria Army in strengthening security across the state through the established of the newly approved 10 Divisions, which will averse military operations in Adamawa and Taraba States respectively.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, give the assurance when he received a delegation from the Nigeria Army Headquarters, led by Major General Ime Bassy, on a courtesy visit at the Government House Yola.
Governor Fintiri described the creation of the 10 division as a major step toward improving security, enhancing rapid responses to emerging threats, and promoting lasting peace, particularity in border communities and other strategic locations across Adamawa State.
The Governor announced that the government would allocate between 100 to 200 hectares of land for the established of Military Formations and Training Facilities.
He said that government would complete all necessary documentation within two weeks and provide every required support to ensure the smooth take off of the project, including the issuance of certificate of occupancy for the allocated land.
Governor Fintiri also called on the Nigeria Army to sustain it efforts in restoring lasting peace and security in Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, Gombe and other parts of the country.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation major General Bassy Ime, who represented the chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu said the team was in Adamawa State to assess of troops and the establishment of New Military Formations.
He explain that the creation of the 10 Division is aimed at strengthening operational response to security threats, increasing troop presence in strategic areas, and enhancing the protection of lives and property across Adamawa and Taraba State.
Major General Bassy Ime, said the assessment team would visit Yola, Ganye, Gombi, Mubi, Madagali to identify suitable locations that would enable the Nigeria Army to effectively projects its operations to vulnerable border communities and improves security coverage.
He appealed to the Adamawa State Government to provide temporary land for the immediate take off of the new military formations while permanent sites are being develop.
