FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – The management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has secured full accreditation for 10 academic programmes from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The university said the achievement aligns with its commitment to academic and intellectual excellence, in line with the provisions of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation 2024, which empowers the NUC to set minimum academic standards and accredit programmes in Nigerian universities.
In a statement signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Iyke Ubochi, the Commission conducted the accreditation exercise during its October/November 2025 visit to the university.
According to the statement, the result was conveyed in a letter signed by the Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, confirming full accreditation for all 10 programmes presented.
The fully accredited programmes include Business Administration, Criminology and Security Studies, Public Administration, Education (Automobile Technology), and Education (Building Technology).
Others are Education (Computer Science), Education (Economics), Education (Electrical/Electronics Technology), Education (Mechanical Technology), and Education (Woodwork Technology).
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel C Nwachukwu, described the accreditation as a national endorsement of the quality of the university’s curriculum, the competence of its staff, and the global competitiveness of its graduates.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustaining academic excellence, noting that the university would continue to invest in staff development, modernise laboratories and libraries, strengthen quality assurance systems, and reward merit.
