FIC Report (Lagos State) – The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has reaffirmed its push for stronger inter-agency collaboration, describing partnerships as “critical to the prevention and response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence” across the state.
The commitment was underscored on Thursday, 4th June 2026, when the Agency hosted the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, AIG Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, and a high-level delegation on a courtesy visit.
“Strengthening partnerships remains critical to the prevention and response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence across Lagos State,” officials said, framing the meeting as part of ongoing efforts to align enforcement with survivor support.
AIG Akpanudom was accompanied by a team of senior officers including CP Anti-Human Trafficking, CP Agans Irabor; CP General Investigation, CP Ojugbele Adebola; CP INTERPOL, CP Ogarebe Fidelis; DC Forensic, DCP Ezirim Oliver; and DC Central Crime Registry, DCP Shehu Alao.
Discussions at the Agency’s office centred on the longstanding collaboration between the DSVA and the FCID Annex, with both sides reviewing existing efforts and mapping out new strategies. According to the Agency, the talks focused on “identifying opportunities for improvement, and reinforcing strategies aimed at reducing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence to the barest minimum.”
The visit wrapped with a guided tour of the DSVA facility led by the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi. During the tour, she “showcased the Agency’s departments and survivor-centred services,” giving the police delegation a firsthand view of intake, psychosocial support, legal, and shelter units.
Mrs. Vivour-Adeniyi said the engagement was crucial for operational synergy. “The engagement provided an opportunity to deepen institutional collaboration and reaffirm a shared commitment to ensuring that survivors receive timely support,” she stated, adding that both institutions are working to “strengthen systems that promote accountability and access to justice.”
The DSVA, established by the Lagos State Government, coordinates the state’s response to domestic and sexual violence through prevention, policy, and direct services. The FCID Annex Alagbon handles complex criminal investigations, including human trafficking and transnational crimes, making it a key partner in SGBV prosecution.
Both institutions pledged to sustain joint reviews and intelligence-sharing to close gaps in response and prosecution, with the police delegation commending the Agency’s survivor-first model as a template for victim support in criminal justice.
