Benue Police Marks 2026 Customer Service Week, Reaffirms Commitment To Responsive Policing

FIC REPORT (BENUE STATE) – The Benue State Police Command has joined the Nigeria Police Force and other government institutions across the country to commemorate the 2026 Customer Service Week with a renewed commitment to responsive, professional and people-oriented policing.

The week, marked on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, has the theme, “The Extra Mile.”

As part of activities to commemorate the week, the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus C. N. Nwadiogbu, psc(+), mnips, PhD, visited the B Division Police Headquarters, Makurdi, where he interacted with police personnel and members of the public.

The Commissioner, while addressing officers and men of the Division, charged them to prioritise prompt response to complaints, professionalism, courtesy and respect in their dealings with members of the public.

He emphasised that every member of the public deserves to be heard, stressing that legitimate complaints must receive appropriate attention and timely response within the ambit of the law.

CP Nwadiogbu urged police personnel to embrace the spirit of “The Extra Mile” by going beyond the ordinary in the discharge of their duties, noting that the quality of service provided by police officers is critical to building public confidence and strengthening police-community relations.

The Commissioner also engaged directly with members of the public at the Division, listening to their concerns and complaints and assuring them of the Command’s readiness to respond appropriately to their needs.

The engagement, according to the Command, was aimed at reinforcing the importance of accessibility, accountability and responsiveness in modern policing.

As part of the activities marking the week, the Benue State Police Command also organised a free medical outreach, through which medical support was provided to beneficiaries as part of the Command’s commitment to the wellbeing of the people it serves.

The Commissioner noted that Customer Service Week should not be regarded merely as an annual celebration, but as a reminder of the responsibility of every police officer to serve members of the public with commitment, courtesy, professionalism and empathy.

He therefore urged personnel to make “The Extra Mile” a daily principle in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing that effective policing goes beyond law enforcement to include listening to, understanding and responding appropriately to the needs of the community.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to professional, responsive and people-oriented policing, while continuing to strengthen public confidence and foster a positive relationship between the Police and the people of Benue State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu, disclosed this in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command,
