BPP, NUPRC Partner To Institutionalize Procurement Excellence

The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, FCIPS, FCILT, FSM, has declared that the Bureau is fully committed to ensuring that Nigeria achieves “Value for Money” in its upstream operations.

Dr. Adedokun made these remarks during a high-level strategic engagement and capacity-building session with the management of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) in Abuja.

In his opening remarks, the Director-General commended the Commission Chief Executive of the NUPRC, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, for her leadership in stabilising the upstream sector.

He noted that without the Commission’s strategic oversight, Nigeria would face significant fuel scarcity challenges given the current global economic crisis.

“The NUPRC is doing a commendable job for the common Nigerian,” Dr. Adedokun stated.

He emphasised that the time and resources invested in capacity building must yield tangible results through  compliance with the Public Procurement Act.

He stated, “The hours spent on this capacity building must be ‘paid for’ through faithful compliance with the Act.

“The Bureau will provide every procurement support necessary to help NUPRC deliver value to Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora.”

The BPP reaffirmed its readiness to work hand-in-hand with the NUPRC to transition from traditional transactional procurement to a transformative, technology-driven system that supports the President’s vision for a transparent and efficient energy sector.
