COVID-19: OSGoF’S Cooperative Elects Officials Electronically

Covid-19 came with a lot disruptions affecting practically every human enterprise in order to keep with its protocols of social distancing and avoidance of crowding among others so as to also overcome or manage the numerous challenges brought by the virus, people are becoming more innovative and creative to keep the system going.

In line with the foregoing, the Cooperative Thrift and Credit Society (CT & CS) of the Office of the Surveyor- General of the Federation (OSGOF) electronically conducted its elections for new executive council that will run the affairs of the society for the next two (2) years.

For the electoral Committee headed by Surv. Egbune Danladi, it was a trail blazing exercise as the results not only reflected the choices of the voters, it also guaranteed inclusive voting as all staff of the office in the 36 states of the  Federation and in the FCT were able to cast their votes.

The elected officials included Chairman, Surv. Akande Adetunji Moruf; Vice Chairman, Surv. Toji Isaac; General Secretary, Samir Ibrahim; Assistant General Secretary, Odocha Ebere;  and the Treasurer, Phil Ihejirika.

Others were the Financial Secretary, Mrs Samuel Chidiima; PRO, Okafor Monica Nwodo and Ayeni Bosede Khadijat as Welfare Officer. They have been issued certificates of return and inaugurated.

Whule handing over to his successor, the Director of Internal Boundary, Surv. Yemi Adebomehin who was the former chairman advised the newly elected officials to consolidate on the gains so far recorded by his executives pointing that the cooperative has provided much succour to staff in need.

In his acceptance speech, the Director of Hydrography Department, Surv. Akande Adetunji Moruf who was newly elected as the chairman pledged to carry everyone along to build on the successes of his predecessor. He said he had track records of transparency and would definitely avoid fraudulent practices that may jeopardize the essence of the cooperative.
