The Government of Nigeria and that of Indonesia have signed Letter of Intent to further deepen bilateral Defence relations.
The Minister of Defence, Maj Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) while signing the Letter of Intent in Ship House said the objective of signing the letter was aimed at strengthening defence cooperation in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations of both countries.
Gen Magashi remarked that the areas of cooperation contained in the Letter of Intent include exchange of high ranking operational officials, promotion of education and training, intelligence sharing as well as promotion of Defence industries.
He expressed optimism that the signing of the Letter of Intent would open new vista of hope in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries
The Minister of Defence who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni assured the 5 -man Indonesian delegation that Nigeria was poised to drive the relationship between the two countries.
The Indonesia Ambassador to Nigeria Dr Hustra Harahap thanked the Government of Nigeria for the platform provided to sign the agreement assuring Nigeria of his country’s total commitment to abide by the articles contained in the signed document.
The Permanent Secretary who represented the Minister of Defence Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) signed on behalf of Nigerian Government while the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Hustra Harahap signed on behalf of Indonesian Government.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the teams of management of Ministry of Defence and Indonesian representatives.
