The Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, GCON, has handed over the released EndBad Governance suspects to their State Governments, in line with the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The event took place at the Aso villa on Tuesday, 5th October, 2024.
The Vice President while handing the minors to the Governors of Kano and Kaduna, enjoined the children to be of good conduct and avoid acts likely to constitute breach of public peace as they unite with their families.
He admonished the minors not to allow themselves to be used to perpetrate violence and destroy public and private property.
He charged the two Governors to ensure that the children were rehabilitated and reintegrated into their communities.
The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda in his remarks said the Ministry sung into action as directed by Mr President to ensure the release of the children.
“We worked with the Ministry of Justice to obtain the details of the suspects which will be handed to the state Governors so that they can track them and ensure that all of them are taken care of” he stated.
The Minister who was accompanied by the Honourable Minister of State of the Ministry, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu and the Permanent Secretary, Abel Enitan were earlier at the Federal High Court, Abuja to receive the minors numbering 119 from Kano and Kaduna States,who were released from detention.
The Minister enjoined the children to always be law abiding and be good citizens of their country. He encouraged them to go back to school and pursue their academic career.
“I am from Plateau State and grew up in Yobe State and it is education that has made me what I am today. When you are educated, some of you will be Commissioners, Governor’s and Ministers in the future. The way we are receiving you today one day it will be your turn to receive others,” the Minister stated.
The Honourable Minister of State of the Ministry, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, appreciated Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for directing that the minors be released and be reunited with their families.
Dignitaries at the event include Executive Governors of Kano and Kaduna States, Director Humanitarian Affairs, Deputy Director overseeing the Office of Director Social Development of the Ministry, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Federal Ministry of Justice, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North West, United Nations Children Fund, among others.
