FIC Report (Enugu State) – The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN and Enugu State Govt have agreed to partner to develop critical infrastructure at the Enugu International Airport in order to achieve the objectives of the present administration in the State.

This happened on Wednesday when the Governor of Enugu State received the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FAAN, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku and other top management staff of the agency in his office at the Government House of Enugu State.

The MD/CEO of the FAAN, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, represented by the Director of Business Development, FAAN, Mrs Adebola Agunbiade, said the partnership will serve the airport needs of the South East in a manner that will catalyze the business potentials of Ndi Igbo, increase wealth creation within the zone, reduce the incidence of poverty,and enhance the GDP of the state within the geo-political zone.

She commended the Enugu State Government’s decision to partner FAAN in providing critical infrastructure that will enhance the ability of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu in providing seamless operations in cargo, domestic, and international passenger facilitations.

The Governor of Enugu State who was delighted to receive FAAN entourage expressed readiness to increase the standard of the Enugu International Airport.

Dr Mbah who commended his visitors for the willingness to have a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, for a partnership engagement that promises to make Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu achieve the purpose for which it was established, said his administration has projected to have over three million tourists come into the state yearly from 2025, noting that the state is expecting 100 flights flying to and fro the state.

While stating that their visit was indicative of the cordial relationship that has existed and continues to exist between the FAAN and the state government, Governor Mbah expressed hope that the outcome of the committee’s discussions will be of mutual benefit to both parties.

He also expressed optimism that the committee will conclude its discussions in the next fortnight to enable the state and the FAAN speed up actions as captured in the MoU.
