The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Borno State Government and the victims of the recent flood disaster that ravaged the state.
In a statement signed by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister (Mrs) Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, she expressed deep sympathy and sorrow over the loss of lives and property as a result of the devastating flood.
In solidarity with the affected communities, the Ministry assured that it would work closely with relevant government agencies as well as humanitarian organisations to ensure that the most vulnerable victims of the disaster, particularly women and children, receive timely and appropriate assistance.
The Minister further urged all citizens of the State to heed the warnings issued by the metereological department by taking necessary precautionary measures in order to avoid more loss of lives and property, adding that updated information on weather conditions as well as adherence to safety guidelines will assist in minimising the impact of the flood.
Kennedy-Ohanenye stated further that the Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to the well-being of all Nigerians and will continue to work tirelessly to address key challenges faced by Nigerian citizens.
While commending the efforts of the State government and the emergency response teams, the Minister assured that the Ministry remains committed to the implementation of government programmes, initiatives and projects that will impact positively on lives of millions of Nigerians
