ABUJA (Presidency’ Report) The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government on the sustainability of the Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH) Programme. The Head of Service gave the re-assurance today in Abuja during sites inspection of some completed estates funded by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

Mrs. Oyo-Ita said the purpose of the inspection was to have firsthand information on the types of building, location, infrastructure in place, habitable nature and how affordable it will be for off-takers under the FISH Programme.

She said that the Present administration is poised towards the provision of quality and affordable houses for Federal Public Servants as an avenue to ameliorate deficiency in the housing sector and improve the welfare of the Federal Public Servants for effective service delivery.

She said that the reason for the perceived slowness in the FISH programme was because a tripartite agreement needs to be reached between the stakeholders (the off-takers, financiers and the estate developers) for a smooth operation as regards affordability.

Also Speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa assured the Head of Service and Federal Civil Servants of their continued and unalloyed support of the scheme and expressed readiness to deliver fully completed and affordable housing estates to off-takers in Abuja and 20 states of the Federation before December, 2017.

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB), Dr. Hannatu Fika, said that she was impressed with the sites inspection. She added that over 2000 Civil Servants have benefited from the Home Renovation Loan, of the Board and called on other Public Servants to key into the Scheme in order to enjoy the benefit of being a contributor to the National Housing Fund.
