Abuja (Min. of Industry, Trade and Invest.) – The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Amb. Mariam Yalwaji Katagum has said that the Federal government would give high priority to the development of the Textile Industry in order to move the country from being an importer to exporter of finished products.
The Honourable Minister of State disclosed this when she received a delegation of foreign investors from China led by the Treasurer of Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Umar Ladiyo Ibrahim in her office.
The Minister was pleased with the Chinese investors who had indicated interest to develop the Textile industry at Kano State and she noted that Kano is known to be a historic centre for the Textile Industry particularly the traditional dying art technology that had been there for many decades.
Amb. Katagum further stressed that the Federal Government would give necessary supports to Kano State Government and the Chinese investors towards the development and growth of the textile industry in line with President Buhari Economic Growth Recovery Plan (ERGP) policy.
Earlier in his remarks, the Treasurer of the Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture and the leader of delegation, Alhaji Umar Ladiyo Ibrahim, said the purpose of their visit by the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture and Chinese Investors was to seek for collaboration with the Ministry in the development of the textile industry in the Country.
He explained that Kano State Government with Dantata Group of companies was working assiduously in ensuring that the Nigeria’s Textile Industry is developed for the economic diversification of the country.
