The Permanent Secretary of Livestock Development Mrs Ijeoma Chinyere Akujobi, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s livestock sector through stronger collaboration with stakeholders, strategic investments and the implementation of policies aimed at boosting productivity, ensuring food security and creating sustainable livelihoods.
The Permanent Secretary, gave the assurance during a high-level stakeholders’ engagement meeting with Commercial Dairy Rangers Association (CODARAN) held at the Ministry’s headquarters today, 29th July, 2026 in Abuja.
The meeting which comprised of government officials, development partners and Industry Stakeholders deliberated on key initiatives for the growth of Commercial Diary and modernization of the livestock sector.
In her opening remarks, the The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ijeoma Akujobi, welcomed the delegation from Codaran and commended them for partnering with the Ministry to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda for livestock development.
She emphasized that the Ministry remains committed to creating an enabling environment for investment, innovation and inclusive growth across all livestock value chains.
Earlier, the Lead of the visiting delegation Alhaji M. D. Abubakar, outlined the purpose of their visit, highlighting opportunities for collaboration in animal production, veterinary services, capacity building, investment promotion and sustainable livestock development.
He pledged the Association readiness to work closely with the Ministry in achieving mutually beneficial objectives.
During the interactive session, participants exchanged ideas on strengthening institutional partnerships, addressing challenges affecting the livestock industry Commercial Diary and identifying practical solutions to improve productivity, animal health and market access.
They also explored areas for technical cooperation, knowledge sharing and private sector participation.
Responding to the presentations and comments, the Permanent Secretary, appreciated the contributions of all stakeholders and reiterated that meaningful partnerships remain critical to achieving the Ministry’s mandate.
She stressed that ,the Federal Government is determined to build a modern, competitive and resilient livestock sector capable of contributing significantly to national economic growth, food security and job creation.
Dr. Akujobi assured stakeholders that the Ministry would continue to engage with relevant partners to translate discussions into concrete actions and deliver sustainable outcomes that will benefit livestock farmers and the Nigerian economy at large.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by all parties to strengthen collaboration and maintain continuous engagement towards the successful implementation of livestock development programmes across the country.
