FNPH Kaduna Advances Digital Nursing Education as 71 Students Matriculate for 20262027 Session

FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Kaduna College of Nursing Sciences, has matriculated 71 students into its 2026/2027 academic session.

The matriculation ceremony, formally welcomed the newly admitted students into the College’s 18-month Post-Basic Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing programme.

The 71 students, admitted strictly on merit, emerged from 102 candidates who participated in the nationwide online entrance examination, out of the 109 applicants who initially expressed interest in the programme.

Speaking at the occasion, the Medical Director of FNPH Kaduna, Professor Aishatu Yusha’u Armiya’u, congratulated the matriculants and urged them to uphold the College’s tradition of academic excellence, discipline and professionalism.
Professor Armiya’u highlighted the significance of the 2026/2027 admission process, noting that the new set was the first to undertake the entrance examination online from their various locations, with instant marking and release of results.

She described this development as another significant step towards the full digitalisation of the College’s academic processes in line with global best practices.

She commended the academic and non-academic staff of the College for their dedication to mentoring and preparing the next generation of professional nurses who will eventually become specialists in their chosen fields.

In her welcome address, the Provost of the College, Mrs Maryam Mohammed, urged the students to remain focused and committed to their aspirations as they officially commenced their professional training.

Also delivering goodwill messages, the Kaduna Zonal Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Mallam Mahmud Abdullahi, and the Provost of the Nigeria Air Force College of Nursing Sciences (NAFCONS), NAF Base Kaduna, Wing Commander Victoria Dung, encouraged the matriculants to demonstrate discipline, professionalism and good character while serving as worthy ambassadors of their families and institutions.

Highlights of the ceremony included the administration of the matriculation oath by the Head of the Legal Unit, Barrister Rabiu Suleiman, and the ceremonial capping of the matriculants by the Medical Director and Chairman of the occasion, Professor Armiya’u, assisted by principal officers of the College and invited dignitaries.

Speaking after the ceremony, some of the newly matriculated students expressed excitement and optimism about their academic journey, pledging to give their best in character, learning and professional development, in accordance with the commitment made in their matriculation oath.
Congratulations to the 2026/2027 set! Welcome to FNPH College of Nursing Sciences, where excellence, professionalism and service remain the tradition.
