FIC Report (Benue State) – In a historic move to modernize governance and propel Benue State into the digital age, Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has launched a groundbreaking initiative aimed at equipping 40,000 state and local government civil servants with e-governance tools and ICT skills.
Speaking at the grand unveiling ceremony held at the Dream Event Centre, Makurdi, on Monday 24th,2025. Governor Alia described the initiative as a bold step toward efficiency, transparency, and a digitally driven economy. “This is not just about launching new technology platforms; it is about empowering our workforce and embracing the limitless opportunities of a digital future,” he emphasized.
Game-Changing Digital Platforms
The initiative introduces three key digital platforms designed to streamline governance and enhance service delivery:
Electronic Document Management System (EDMS): A cutting-edge solution to revolutionize record-keeping and enhance administrative efficiency in government institutions.
Benue State Geographic Information System (BENGIS) Portal: A digital platform designed to simplify and expedite access to land management services, eliminating bureaucratic delays.
Benue Youth Startup and Innovation Support Portal: A strategic move to empower young entrepreneurs with skills, mentorship, and financial support to drive job creation and economic growth.
Building a Future-Ready Civil Service
The governor underscored the significance of training in ensuring a seamless transition to digital governance. “Through this program, we are building a civil service that is adaptable and prepared for the demands of a rapidly evolving world,” he stated. He also extended gratitude to partners such as the Digital Bridge Institute for their collaboration in delivering world-class training to civil servants.
A Call for Collaboration and Investment
As Benue State celebrates this monumental achievement, Governor Alia called on public and private stakeholders to support the ongoing development of digital infrastructure. “Together, let us build a thriving digital ecosystem that empowers our youth and drives sustainable development,” he urged.
The launch of these digital reforms marks a defining moment in the state’s history, positioning Benue as a leader in e-governance and digital transformation in Nigeria.
