FIC Report (Benue State) – Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has cautioned against the growing encroachment on landed properties owned by the state government, stressing that such actions will not be tolerated.
The governor issued the warning on Wednesday while speaking with journalists after inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of the Commissioners’ Quarters in Makurdi.
He emphasized that his administration is committed to fully utilizing all government-owned assets and will take decisive steps to protect them from illegal occupation or encroachment.
Governor Alia expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work at the project site, commending the contractor while urging faster completion.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to provide quality and spacious accommodation for top government officials within the shortest possible time.
The governor also directed the Ministry of Works and Housing to ensure adequate protection and proper management of all state properties.
In addition, he disclosed plans by his administration to support civil servants in preparing for retirement, including the development of more housing units within the quarters.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at accommodating more workers and addressing the housing deficit in the state.
