FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, CON, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the welfare of health workers in the state.
Sani stated this when he received the management of the National Eye Centre, Kaduna, led by its Chief Medical Director, Dr. Amina Hassan Wali, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to strengthen mutual understanding, advance shared interests and deepen the cordial partnership between the National Eye Centre and the Kaduna State Government.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Amina Hassan Wali commended the Kaduna State Government for its sustained efforts to improve healthcare delivery, prioritise the welfare of health workers and maintain the peace and enabling environment necessary for the effective operation of the Centre.
She highlighted the strategic importance of the National Eye Centre, Kaduna, as Nigeria’s dedicated specialist eye hospital, providing critical and specialised eye-care services to patients from Kaduna State and other parts of the country.
Governor Uba Sani commended the management and staff of the National Eye Centre for their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to excellence in providing specialised healthcare services to Nigerians.
The Governor reaffirmed that healthcare remains a major priority of his administration, noting that the State Government has continued to make significant investments aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure, human resources and access to quality medical services.
He disclosed that the administration has approved the annual employment of 1,800 health workers for the next five years, as well as the implementation of CONHESS and CONMESS for health professionals.
Uba also highlighted the completion of the 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital and the ongoing upgrading of primary and secondary healthcare facilities across Kaduna State.
Governor Approves Operational Vehicle for National Eye Centre
Responding to a request by the management of the National Eye Centre, Governor Uba Sani approved the provision of an operational vehicle to facilitate staff mobility and enhance the Centre’s efficiency and service delivery.
Sani also directed Operation Fushin Kada and the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) to strengthen security arrangements within and around the Centre to ensure a safe and conducive environment for healthcare workers, patients and visitors.
Governor Uba Sani presented the land allocation documents for a staff housing scheme to the National Eye Centre.
The initiative is designed to improve the welfare of healthcare workers, boost staff morale and create better conditions for effective and efficient service delivery.
Uba further pledged the Kaduna State Government’s support for the proposed College of Nursing Sciences, describing the initiative as an important step towards strengthening healthcare education, professional training and human-resource development in the state.
He said Kaduna State is steadily emerging as a hub for healthcare education, training and professional development, adding that his administration will continue to support initiatives that expand opportunities for healthcare professionals and improve services to the people.
Sani said the Award Belongs to Our Health Workers and the People of Kaduna. while receiving an Award of Appreciation from the management of the National Eye Centre, dedicated the recognition to the hardworking health workers across Kaduna State and the people of the state.
He expressed appreciation for the trust, dedication and contributions of healthcare workers, noting that their commitment remains central to the progress being recorded in the state’s healthcare sector.
The Governor assured the management of the National Eye Centre of the continued cooperation and support of the Kaduna State Government, stressing that the administration will continue to pursue partnerships that improve healthcare delivery and enhance the wellbeing of citizens.
