Governor Ikpeazu swears in three new Judges as recommended by NJC


hree new High Court Judges whose nominations were recently approved by the National Judicial Council (NJC) have been sworn-in by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

Enyinnaya Okezie
Ogbonna Adiele

Performing the Swearing-in Ceremony at Executive Chambers of Government House, Umuahia, the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu charged them to contribute to the building of a strong judiciary system in Abia State.

He said that with the knowledge they have bequeathed themselves over the years, he has no doubt of their credibility in delivering justice for a better society.

Governor Ikpeazu said that he counts on the members of the Judiciary to raise the bar of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State and hope that their support would add value to the government of the State.

The State Chief Executive informed the Judges that Abia State is on a threshold of breaking into new vista especially in the area of providing job opportunities for the teeming youths through numerous interventions including SMEs and attraction of foreign direct investments, hence deserves more security.
The Governor , however , congratulated them on their appointments and prayed God to guide them as they discharge their duties.

Presenting the Judge nominees earlier, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Onuoha Ogwe assured that the nominees are veritable materials and would be assets to the State Judiciary.
He described the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as Judiciary friendly and thanked him of the sustained support of the Judiciary.

Earlier, the Solicitor General of the State and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Lady Uzoamaka Ikonne administered the Oaths of Office and Allegiance on the new Judges

In an acceptance speech on behalf of his colleagues, Justice Benson Anya
pledged that they would support the State and ensure that maximal justice is dispensed in the State.

He thanked the Governor for his magnanimity in ensuring that the excercise was concluded by swearing them in, saying that they would not disappoint the people of the State. Deputy Governor Ude Oko Chukwu, Secretary to Government ,Barrister Chris Ezem , Attorney General and Commissioner for justice, Uche Ihediwa Esq,State Head of Service,Sir Onyi Wamah, Chief of Staff to the Governor,Chief Ukpai Agwu etc were part of the programme.
