Governor Okpebholo approves Employment of 500 Public School Teachers

FIC Report (Edo State) – The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the recruitment of 500 new teachers to enhance the workforce across public schools in the state’s three senatorial districts.The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, announced this on Tuesday, 21st January 2025 shortly after assuming office.

Dr.Iyamu stated that the recruitment, which will be conducted in phases, aims to address existing vacancies in public schools and ensure they are adequately staffed.

He emphasised the government’s commitment to providing qualified teachers in every public school in Edo State. He said, “The era of having two or three teachers in a school is over”. Dr. Iyamu urge qualified Nigerians to apply and assured that the process would be based strictly on merit.

The recruitment exercise drive is as a result of the recent hiring of 360 individuals into the state’s core civil and public service, marking a shift from the reliance on contract staff. Applauding the state Governor for keeping to his promise, Dr.Iyamu said the approval for the recruitment of 500 teachers is the first phase of a series of initiatives aimed at ensuring that the average Edo child receives the best education while the state continue to drive infrastructural development in the state.He further expressed gratitude to Okpebholo, describing him as “a man of honour who prioritises the welfare of the average Edo child.”

Conclusively, Dr.Iyamu directed interested and qualified candidates to apply through the official website, cautioning them against paying any individual or group for the application process, as it is entirely free.

He reiterated that selection would be based on merit.

“A new dawn is here, and a new Edo is rising,” he concluded.
