The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita has advocated for support of the Directorate Level Officers in the Federal Civil Service, who are critical stakeholders in the implementation of Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP).

She made the plea during the Service-wide Sensitization Workshop on 2017-2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) for Directorate Level Officers (GL15-17) in the Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments in Abuja on Wednesday, 23rd May 2018.

The Head of Service stated that the sensitization workshop is programmed to get the participants well informed on the modalities for implementation of the strategy.

Mrs Oyo-Ita noted that ‘the future of the Nigerian Civil Service is in your hands. It is therefore imperative for us to work collectively towards making the service function better in order to guarantee a sustainable socio-economic development in Nigeria’.

According to her, the eight priority areas of the strategy were initiated along the following initiatives: Capacity Development and Training, Strategic Talent sourcing and Recruitment, Performance Management, Staff Welfare, Culture Change, Innovation, Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM). She pointed out that the initiatives have the characteristics of success.

The Head of Service also used the occasion to stress on the need for employees to update their records online. She emphasized that the online records update is a key requirement for the implementation of the HR Module of IPPIS; and must be completed by every employee of the Federal Government to maintain their records on the IPPIS platform.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategic Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Marcellinus Ndubuisi Osuji in his welcome remarks, said the overall aim of the FCSSIP is to reposition the Service, engender Culture Change and Cultivate EPIC Civil Servants for better performance and improved quality of Service Delivery in Nigeria.
