IGP presents 27 Million Naira Cheque to deceased, injured Police Officers, harps on judicious use of the fund

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has presented cheques worth  Twenty-Seven million, eight hundred and Seventy-Nine thousand, six hundred and fifty-nine naira, fifty-six kobo, to 35 families of deceased Police Officers and those who sustained injuries in the discharge of their duties in the State.

The gesture is an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police Group Personal Accident and Group Life Assurance geared towards improving the living standard of families of Police Operatives that lost their lives in the line of duty and those who sustained injuries while discharging their statutory duties.

Presenting the cheques on behalf of the IGP at the Police Headquarters, Bende Road, Umuahia,  Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, expressed deep sadness over the loss of these brave men whom he said dedicated their lives to serving and protecting our communities.IGP presents 27 Million Naira Cheque to deceased, injured Police Officers, harps on judicious use of the fund

He noted that the loss of a loved one is never easy, adding that it is a moral duty for the Police to support and stand beside the families of their fallen and injured colleagues.

The IGP expressed the hope that the cheques will help ease the financial burden that may come with such loss believing that they will make judicious use of the money meant to provide support to the families these officers left behind.IGP presents 27 Million Naira Cheque to deceased, injured Police Officers, harps on judicious use of the fund

Responding on behalf of others, some representatives of the families present, Okey Nnaemeka and Amarachi Nwachukwu thanked the IGP for the gesture, assuring that they would make judicious use of the money.

Out of the 35 Police Officers, 32 are deceased, while 3 are injured but only 12 of the families were present during the presentation.
