…Scores 100% At The 2022 National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Exercise.
FIC Report (Abia State) – The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed deep and profound delight at the news of the restoration of full accreditation of the course of MEDICINE AND SURGERY at the Abia State University, some months after it was withdrawn by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The Governor, while reacting to the release of the report of the NUC Accreditation Team to the State University, was particularly delighted that apart from recovering the accreditation for Medicine and Surgery, the University scored 100% for the other 6 courses like Optometry, Nursing, Biochemistry, French, Sociology and Business Education which the University presented for accreditation.
Governor Ikpeazu reminded Abians of his promise to ensure that the withdrawal of accreditation for Medicine and Surgery at ABSU would be temporary, assured that the State Government will continue to sustain her support to the University.
The Governor congratulated the Governing Council and Management of the University, especially the Vice Chancellor, Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu who, together with the erudite Professors at the various faculties worked tirelessly to bring to fruition, his marching orders on the subject matter.
In particular, the Governor congratulated the students of the University, especially those studying and those who wish to study Medicine and Surgery, assuring them of the commitment of the State Government to ensure that their dreams of becoming medical doctors are not truncated.
In a release by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Onyemaechi Ogbulu National said Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation status and restored the Medicine & Surgery programme of Abia State University, which was denied in 2021.
