Imo Government Pledges To Boost Welfare Packages For Corps Members

FIC Report (Imo State) – Governor Hope Uzodimma has promised to commit all available resources towards enhancing the welfare of serving corps members in Imo State, otherwise known as the “Eastern Heartland”.

The governor made this known at the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise of the 2026 Batch A Stream ll at Eziama Obaire in the state. He was represented by the Chairman, National Youth Service Corp (NYSC ) State Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Dr. Emela Mandela Ukaegbu.

He assured corps members that his administration prioritizes youth development, and is committed to making their service year memorable and rewarding, adding that plans are underway to increase their allowances from the state government.

Senator Uzodimma emphasized that the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on recognizing and rewarding outstanding contributions across various sectors. He therefore encouraged them to actively participate in meaningful Community Development Service (CDS) projects that will positively impact their host communities and the development of Imo state at large.

Regarding security, Senator Uzodimma reassured corps members that adequate measures are being implemented to ensure their safety throughout their service year.

Earlier, the NYSC state coordinator, Mrs. Doris Erumwunse in her address thanked the governor and the Imo government for their consistent support for the NYSC scheme, not forgetting the people of Eziama Obaire for their hospitality and peaceful environment.

She also commended the corps members for their dedication, discipline, patriotism and resilience during the three (3) weeks orientation programme, adding that they would provide impactful services to their host communities .
