The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has saluted the resilience, creativity and enterprise of Nigerian youth, describing their talents, energy and aspirations as among the nation’s greatest assets.
In a message to mark the 2026 International Youth Day, the DG said this year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” aptly reflects the Nigerian experience, noting that despite differences in circumstances, cultures and communities, young Nigerians share common aspirations for dignity, opportunity, meaningful participation and a better, more sustainable future.
Rt. Hon. Buba Yakub urged young Nigerians to see themselves not merely as leaders of tomorrow, but as partners and leaders of today, pointing to their growing contributions in universities, businesses, technology, creative industries, agriculture, laboratories, workplaces and communities.
He also called for sustained efforts to create an enabling environment where young people can acquire the skills, knowledge, confidence and opportunities required to compete and succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
The NTAC DG noted that youth development resonates strongly with the Corps’ mandate of promoting Nigeria’s goodwill and international cooperation through the deployment of skilled Nigerians to partner countries.
He said NTAC Volunteers continue to demonstrate the capacity of Nigerian professionals to make meaningful contributions beyond the country while strengthening Nigeria’s bonds of friendship and cooperation with the international community.
Rt. Hon. Buba Yakub encouraged young Nigerians to embrace excellence, integrity, innovation, patriotism and service, while turning the country’s diversity into a platform for collaboration rather than division.
He further assured the youth that their voices, ideas, talents and contributions matter, urging them to remain hopeful, purposeful and determined despite the challenges confronting the nation.
“The challenges before us are real, but so are the opportunities. Together, we can build a Nigeria in which every young person has the opportunity to live with dignity, fulfil his or her potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.”
The Director-General wished Nigerian youth a Happy International Youth Day 2026, urging them to remain committed to building a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.
