FIC Report (Abia State) – The State Chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has announced the suspension of its Ten (10) Days strike.
The Chairman State Chapter of the JUSUN – Comrd. Chinedu Eze who announced the suspension of the Industrial Action today in a meeting of the union in the High Court complex Umuahia, explained that the action follows a memorandum of understanding between the Union and the state government on the implementation of the new minimum wage among other sundry matters.
The memorandum signed by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice – Chief Ikechukwu Uwanna, the National President of JUSUN – Marwan Adamu, the state Chairman JUSUN – Comrd. Chinedu Eze as well as the state Assistant Secretary – Comrd. Chibueze Nwachukwu says the suspension of the strike is with immediate effect while neither the executive nor member of the union shall be penalized for participating in the Industrial Action.
According to the memorandum, the state government has approved the implementation of the National Minimum wage in line with the CONJUS scale for the judiciary staff from October 2024, while Rice palliative and other entitlements will be provided for the judiciary in line with other public servants in the State.
The memorandum further states that entitlements for retirees of the judiciary shall be paid while a negotiation team that will meet regularly to resolve the issues between the Union and government shall be constituted without further delay.
The memorandum commended the state government for its sensitivity to the yearnings of the staff and pledged its loyalty to the programmes and policies of the state government.
