FIC Report (Kano State) – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has praised the recent local government elections as the most free and fair in the state’s history. During an inspection visit to the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) headquarters, Governor Yusuf attributed the success to the commitment of the state’s residents.

The governor commended the people of Kano for their zeal and support in ensuring the election of candidates with integrity. He assured the newly elected officials of his administration’s full support, pledging to provide necessary resources for them to serve their communities effectively.

Governor Yusuf expressed concern over judicial partisanship, urging the judiciary to remain neutral in election matters. He criticized some judges for undermining the people’s interest, particularly in Kano State, stressing that impartiality is crucial for democracy.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to democracy and cordial relations with all authorities. He emphasized the importance of setting aside politics to ensure the people’s will is respected, warning against impunity and its potential consequences.

A delegation from the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria (FOSIECON), led by Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman, Alhaji Sulaiman Aliyu, visited the governor. He thanked KANSIEC and security agencies for their proactive role in ensuring peaceful elections, describing the solidarity visit as a significant boost to democracy in Nigeria.
