FIC Report (Kwara State) – The newly deployed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kwara State, Ahmed Yusha’u Garki, has stressed the need to strenghten more on existing working relationship withFederal ministry of information especially as it relates to voters education and public awareness on electoral processes.
This came to foral during the familiarisation visit by kwara REC and his management team to federal information centre, Ilorin today,
According to the REC Ahmed Garki the visit was aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration between the two offices in fulfilling their statutory responsibilities.
The REC said that the visit was routine and expedient to key stakeholders in the state and a demonstration of INEC’s commitment to partnering with the Centre to deepen information, education as well as enlightening the electorates on the activities of the Agency in Kwara State.
He stressed that credible elections require the joint effort of all stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability before, during, and after the electoral process.
According to him, “INEC alone cannot achieve success without the support of the Centre. We need to harmonise together to inform, educate, sensitise, and enlighten the general publics the activities and programmes of the Agent, especially as we approach 2027 general elections”.
In his remarks, the Head of Centre, Mr. Hammed Olarewaju Abubakar, appreciated the new REC for his sportsmanship and reiterated the readiness of the centre to work closely with the umpire, especially on information dissemination
He restated and maintained the existing collaboration
The Head of Centre, therefore, assured the REC not to hesitate to carry along the office on any area as the office is ready to partnership with the Agency.
